Selling medical devices in Slovenia: common questions
Do I need a local distributor to sell medical devices in Slovenia?
For EU-based manufacturers there is no legal requirement to appoint one. In practice, Slovenian hospital tenders typically require a bidder registered with JAZMP as a medical device distributor, bid forms in Slovenian submitted through the national e-procurement portal, and local delivery, consignment stock and complaint handling. A local importer and distributor covers all of this.
How do Slovenian hospitals buy medical devices?
Mostly through public tenders published in Slovenian on the national e-procurement portal. Many hospitals buy through framework agreements, often running around 36 months, and through dynamic purchasing systems, where suppliers qualify first and then compete in smaller calls during the system’s lifetime. Many tenders fall below the EU threshold and never appear on TED.
What is JAZMP?
JAZMP is the Agency for Medicinal Products and Medical Devices of the Republic of Slovenia, the national competent authority for medical devices. ORIANA MEDI d.o.o. is registered with JAZMP as both importer and distributor of medical devices.
Can you work with us without a distribution agreement?
Yes. Besides distribution, we offer public tender services: we monitor Slovenian tenders for your products and bid on the ones you choose as your local bidder, with a manufacturer’s authorisation for each tender.
Do you also work for our competitors?
We never bid for two manufacturers in the same product group of a tender. If a product group fits more than one client, it goes to whoever confirms the bid order first.

What do your services cost?
The EUDAMED check is free. We send prices for tender monitoring and bid preparation with our manufacturer offer. Distribution terms are agreed individually.
